How to Convert Video to Text Without an Account (Your File Is Deleted After)
Most tools that convert video to text put a wall in front of you before you can do anything: create an account, verify your email, set a password, and sometimes add a card. For a one-off video, that is a lot of commitment just to read back what someone said. There is a quieter cost too. Once you upload a file into an account, it usually sits on that company's servers, tied to your profile, for as long as the account exists.
OneStepTranscribe works the other way around. There is no account to create, and your uploaded file is deleted from our storage as soon as the transcript is sent. Here is how that works, and what it actually protects.
How to convert a video to text without an account
-
Upload your video file directly. MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, and the other common formats all work, and nothing asks you to sign up first.
-
Enter an email address. This is only so we can send the finished transcript to you. It is not a registration, there is no password, and you are not creating a profile.
-
Get your transcript back in minutes, delivered as PDF, Word, Markdown, and CSV, with speakers separated and timestamps included.
That is the whole flow. Upload, email, done. No dashboard to log into, nothing to remember.
What "no account" actually protects
Skipping the signup wall is not just about saving two minutes. It removes a few real liabilities.
There is no password to manage, reuse, or have leaked in someone else's data breach. There is no profile quietly building a history of everything you have ever transcribed. And because you never created an account, there is no login that a stranger could use to reach your files later.
Most importantly, your file does not live on a server tied to your identity. Once the transcript has been generated and emailed, the uploaded video is removed from our storage. We are not keeping a copy of your recording to train on or to hand to anyone else, because it is gone.
The one detail to be honest about
You do give us an email address, because we deliver the transcript by email rather than making you sit and wait on a page. If you would rather not share any contact detail at all, that is a different trade-off, but for most people an email for delivery is a far smaller ask than a full account plus indefinite file storage.
When this matters most
The no-account, delete-after approach is worth the most when the content is sensitive: a recorded interview with a source, a private meeting, a medical or legal discussion, a customer call. Those are exactly the recordings you do not want sitting in a third party's account indefinitely. Upload, get the text, and the original is cleared.
