Most voice recorder tools ask for something before you can capture a single second: install an app, create an account, or let your recordings sync to a cloud you do not really control. For something as simple as catching a meeting or a quick memo and reading it back as text, that is a lot of overhead.
There is a lighter way. You can record audio straight from a browser tab, with no app to install and no account to create, and the recording stays on your device until you decide to do anything with it.
How to record and transcribe in your browser

If you transcribe, the text comes back as PDF, Word, Markdown, and CSV, with speakers separated, usually within minutes.
What stays on your device
Until you choose to transcribe, the recording never leaves your browser. You can record, listen back, and even download the file without anything being uploaded. There is no app quietly collecting recordings in the background, and no account tying them to a profile.
When you do send a recording for transcription, the uploaded file is deleted from our storage once the transcript has been emailed to you, so a copy is not left sitting on a server afterwards.
When a browser recorder is the right tool
It fits the moments where opening a dedicated app is overkill: a meeting that just started, a thought you need to keep before it goes, an interview happening next to your laptop. It also suits conversations you would rather not have an app sync to someone else's cloud, and anyone who simply does not want another login.
For very long sessions or professional multitrack work, a dedicated recording app still has its place. But for getting spoken words into clean text quickly, the browser is enough.
