Your recording stays on your device until you choose to transcribe it.

Record without installing anything

Most voice recorders ask you to download an app or sign up first. This one runs entirely in your browser. Open the page, allow microphone access, and you're recording. It works on your laptop or your phone, and there is nothing to set up.

How it works

1. Open the recorder and allow microphone access.

2. Press record. You can pause and resume as often as you need, and a live waveform shows your audio is coming through.

3. Press stop when you're finished, then play it back to check it.

4. Choose “Transcribe this recording” to send it straight to transcription, or download the audio file to keep it.

5. Your transcript arrives by email as PDF, Word, Markdown, and CSV — usually within a few minutes.

From recording to transcript in one step

When you choose to transcribe, your recording flows into the same process as any uploaded file. You get an accurate transcript with speaker labels, delivered in four formats, and you can clean it up afterwards in our free transcript editor. If you opt in, you can also receive a short AI summary with key points and chapters.

Your recording stays private

The recording is captured and held on your own device. Nothing is uploaded while you record, and the audio is only sent for transcription if and when you choose to. After your transcript is emailed to you, the file is deleted from our servers. For sensitive interviews or confidential calls, that means your audio never sits on a server longer than it needs to.
